FALL IS HERE, WINTER IS NEAR AND THESE NEW FASHION TRENDS MIGHT MAKE YOU EXCITED FOR THE COLD! Harper's Bazaar summed up this Fall/Winter fashion week for us with the top trends, and they are AWESOME! Here are the top five. 1) Waist belts. That winter coat might seem bulky and unflattering, but adding a waist belt can help! The great thing about waist belts is that you only need a couple that can be added to several outfits. 2) Blues in all hues! I'm actually really excited for this trend. Blue, like the sky and the sea, gives off a sense of calmness. It is the color to wear if you want to show trust, which inevitably makes you more confident. Icy blues are also breathtaking against white snow or an overcast sky. 3) Checks. The Checkered pattern has so much versatility! It can be dressed up with a peacoat or fitted dress, or dressed down with a flannel or lumberjack style coat. Everyone looks good in checks! 4) Ankle Cuffs. I'm personally not com

Study Abroad

Many stigmas come along with the idea of studying abroad; that you can't afford it, that you'll get behind in classes, or that you'll miss out on things going on at home. But I promise none of that is true! I studied abroad this summer between my freshman and sophomore year in Austria for two months. I was able to take 9 credit hours and it actually cost LESS than it would have for me to take three summer classes at my university, that's including tuition, flights, and rent! I know that seems impossible, but tuition in European Union is extremely cheap compared to in America, and there are so many scholarships people do not take advantage of! Because of studying during the summer, I am actually going to graduate early. Studying and traveling throughout Europe was the best two months of my life, and I encourage everyone to do it. It's easy to get started, just email or walk in to your abroad advising office just like I did. It will transform your how you see the

As the holidays rare quickly approaching and classes are in full swing, you often don't stop to think what presents you could use, or even ones you want, during the holidays. Over the last couples years I never thought about what I would say when I went home for winter break and my grandma asked me what I wanted for Christmas, but each year I continue to get bombarded by my family about what I want....... Tips to Help Balance your Work and School Life If you want to live on your own, or off campus, chances are that you need to maintain a job. Being in college full time is stressful enough, adding a job can seem undoable. The trick is learning to balance both worlds by staying ahead. STAY ORGANIZED Missing due-dates and important lectures leads to chaos and failure! *   “Always show up,” is a famous quote by our most hated president, Donald Trump, but he’s successful for a reason. Seriously, no matter how tired you are from working the night before, you must show up to class. You never know when a pop quiz or extra credit opportunity will be given   *   Do every single extra credit opportunity. This will give you a slight cushion for when you door poorly on a test or assignment. Even if it’s just 1 or 2 points, you will never regret it. *   At the end of each week, usually Friday, write down due dates for the week to come. *   Trick your mind by making ev

Study Tips- Yes unfortunately college requires studying

As many students are approaching their first round of tests and mid-terms, it's easy to feel like you're spending more than enough time in the books but not retaining any of the information you read. Here are some studying techniques that we believe are most effective for you to try: Get organized - get your notes in chronological order and take notes on the same type of paper consistently.  Set a schedule - pick a time and place for what, when, and where you're going to study and GO DO IT. We are much more likely to do something if we plan it out.  Ask questions - don't be afraid to speak up in class or email the professor if their it something you don't understand. Take full advantage of them, chances are you are paying them a lot of money to educate you. (I know I am) SLEEP - one of the biggest things is college students think they will be good to go if they stay up all night and cram before a test. Your body cannot recall when it is exhausted and it also c

DIVE IN To Your University

Now that college is back in full swing, it's easy to get caught up in class work and not take advantage of all the fun things your university has to offer. Of course class comes first, but sometimes you need to step away from the books and get connected to people through things you actually enjoy. Joining a club, intramural team, sorority, or any school organization can be nerve racking, but you don't have to be an expert in what your joining or know any other members! The cool thing about college is that the majority of us are in the same boat, we want to meet new friends, feel welcomed, be a part of something more than just class, and of course score some free meals. I challenge you to join an organization this semester that your friends from home never expected you to.
